Job Summary: As a Solar Engineer with Commercial Expertise, you will play a crucial role in designing and implementing solar energy systems for commercial and industrial clients. In addition to your technical knowledge and engineering skills, you will be responsible for evaluating the financial viability of projects, calculating return on investment (ROI), estimating savings potential, and understanding power purchase agreement (PPA) formulas. You will work closely with clients, project managers, and finance teams to ensure the successful integration of solar energy systems into their operations.
Responsibilities:
• Design solar energy systems: Utilize your expertise to design and engineer solar power systems for commercial and industrial clients based on their specific requirements and energy consumption patterns.
• Evaluate project feasibility: Conduct thorough assessments of potential solar projects, considering technical, economic, and environmental factors. Analyze site conditions, shading, energy consumption, and system sizing to determine project viability.
• Financial analysis: Calculate return on investment (ROI) for solar projects by analysing upfront costs, energy savings, tax incentives, and other financial considerations. Develop financial models and conduct cost-benefit analyses to support decision-making processes.
• Energy savings estimation: Utilize energy modelling tools and historical data to estimate potential energy savings resulting from the implementation of solar energy systems. Present findings to clients and stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
• PPA knowledge: Demonstrate expertise in power purchase agreements (PPAs) and other relevant financing models. Assist clients in understanding PPA structures, including contract terms, pricing mechanisms, and financial implications.
• Client collaboration: Work closely with clients to understand their energy requirements, assess their needs, and provide tailored solar energy solutions. Present technical and financial proposals, addressing client concerns and ensuring project alignment with their goals.
• Project coordination: Collaborate with project managers and cross-functional teams to oversee the installation and commissioning of solar systems. Provide technical guidance, review system designs, and ensure compliance with engineering standards and local regulations.
• Research and industry trends: Stay up to date with the latest solar technologies, market trends, regulations, and incentives relevant to Uganda's renewable energy sector. Share knowledge and insights with the team to drive innovation and continuous improvement
